This package is designed for a wide range of learners, from families to school groups. It offers participants the opportunity to dive deeper into global perspectives on how biodiversity and local communities coexist in harmony- especially through hands-on engagement with community-based natural conservation programs.
Visitors to Pearaing can enjoy easy birdwatching walks along dikes and open paths, guided by knowledgeable local bird guides. The area is home to both resident and migratory birds, making it an excellent destination for birdwatching year-round. Commonly seen species include waterbirds, waders, passerines, and birds of prey.
Birdwatching at Pearaing also supports local conservation and community-based ecotourism. By visiting, travelers help protect wildlife while learning about local life, farming, and nature in a peaceful countryside setting—an experience very different from the busy city or temple areas.
We provide the options as followed:
Option#1: Morning Birding Tour (Pick up option @ 5:00|5:30|6:00)
Pick-up from Siem Reap town or designated location by an English-speaking birding and community guide and driver, followed by a transfer to Pearaing Biodiversity Conservation Area.
Arrival at the site and on-foot exploration of the area and birdwatching session with a local guide, including interpretation and insights about Pearaing BiodiversityConservation Area. followed by an engine-powered boat trip to observe and learn more about birds and the natural environment. On the way back, a visit to a local village and explore the surrounding Village farms before transfer back to Siem Reap Town or designated location.
Option#2: Afternoon Birding Tour (Pick up option @1400)
Pick-up from Siem Reap town or designated location by an English-speaking birding guide and driver, followed by a transfer to Chreav village.
Arrival at Chreav Village, followed by an on-foot exploration of the village with a visit to a local home and surrounding village farms to observe the real authentic local life.
Continue to Pearaing Biodiversity Conservation Area, enjoying a scenic drive through expansive green rice fields. Arrival at the site for a guided birdwatching session led by a English birding guide, a clear interpretation and insights into the Pearaing Biodiversity Conservation Area. Bird Species You May Encounter at Pearaing Biodiversity Conservation Centre Asian Openbill, Painted Stork, Chinese Pond-heron, Lesser Whistling Duck, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Little Egret, Intermediate Egret, Black-winged Stilt, White-throated Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Plain Prinia, Oriental Magpie-Robin, Pied Buschat, Dark-necked tailorbird, Blue-tailed bee-eater, Spot-billed Pelican, Little Cormorant, Indian Cormorant, Oriental Darter, Comon Myna, Great Myna, Black-collared Starling, Lesser Coucal, Greater Coucal, other more 70 species making Pearaing a hotspot for birdwatching enthusiasts. Physical effort:This trip does not require any great physical effort in terms of long uphill hikes, but does require that participants are fit enough to walk, sometimes for 1.3 kilometres in hot conditions. The walking is mostly on a flat landscape, but some walking on even ground is needed to search for some key species. The physical effort required is well within the capabilities of most healthy people with the ability to deal with tropical climates. Weather:Hot and humid conditions expected near wetlands.
